This is another view of the famous radio-tower accident of 1947. A previous photo angle (looking north) showed that the tower fell directly across Third Street from 360 feet above the Jacobsen Building, toward the YMCA. However, this picture shows the tower lying in a southwesterly fashion, toward the U.S. Post Office. This helped to settle an old argument about the alignment of the tower between my brother Dick and me. It turns out; we were both correct…sort of. Note the old cars and young people on the street. There also are many businesses: Walgreen's, Martin Morris, Shull's and Volckman's.
