The Clinton Herald, Clinton, Iowa

Ken Ploen (third from left) — shown visiting this past fall in Canada with former Clinton High football coach Dick Olin (left); Olin’s stepson, former Iowa quarterback Drew Tate (second from left), and Clinton educator Denny Duerling — is one of the 14 inaugural members of the Clinton High School Athletes Hall of Fame. Ploen, a three-sport athlete at Clinton High, led Iowa to victory in the 1957 Rose Bowl and then enjoyed a Hall of Fame career as a quarterback in the Canadian Football League, in which Tate now plays.
