Two employees were injured today at Archer Daniels Midland Co.'s Clinton plant.
According to a press release from company officials, around 11 a.m. two employees at ADM’s Clinton corn wet mill facility were injured when a piece of machinery malfunctioned in the corn syrup refinery portion of the plant. One employee experienced second-degree burns on his lower body, while the other employee sustained a laceration to his head.
Both employees were taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Clinton. The employee with the head laceration remains in the hospital this evening for observation. The other employee has been released.
The workers' names were not released.
ADM is investigating the cause of the incident.
