CLINTON — Two Wisconsin residents have been arrested in connection with a burglary spree that included several taverns throughout Clinton County.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office on Friday announced the arrests of Crystal M. Evanson, 22, and Jeremy G. Kahl, 21, both of Mount Horeb, Wis.

Each has been charged with eight counts of third-degree burglary, a class D felony; eight counts of theft; and 14 counts of criminal mischief. They are accused of burglarizing taverns and one business in Wheatland, Grand Mound, Calamus, Charlotte, Almont and Welton. Those incidents occurred in the spring of this year.

Both currently are being detained in the Dane County Jail in Madison, Wis., on $100,000 bond, and are awaiting extradition to Clinton County.

Clinton County Sheriff Rick Lincoln stated that the sheriff’s office formed a task force composed of a number of sheriff’s offices, state police agencies and the Clinton County Attorney’s Office to investigate burglaries of a similar nature in Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois.
