CAMANCHE — The Camanche Junior Wrestling Club will be host a wrestling camp at Camanche High School in August.

The organization will hold a can drive on Saturday to help offset the costs to parents.

On Saturday between 9 a.m. and noon, members of the Junior Wrestling Club will go door-to-door in Camanche collecting empty beverage cans, or any other cans with a five-cent refund. Proceeds from the drive will be divided among the members of Camanche Junior Wrestling and Camanche schools that will be attending the camp.

“We have decided on a camp for this summer to help kids with techniques and just give them some summer fun and keep their minds interested in wrestling,” said Junior Wrestling Club volunteer Tricia Everson.

The club invited two prominent wrestlers to share their expertise, Eric Jurgens and Jody Strittmatter.

Jurgens is a member of Young Guns Wrestling Club and is well-known throughout Iowa.

He is a four-time undefeated high school state champion and posted a 144-0 record.

At the University of Iowa, he won two NCAA championships and was named an All-American four times.
