CLINTON — The Clinton County Community Development Association approved the Fund A Review Committee’s recommendations for grant recipients at the monthly meeting of the board of directors early today.

The Fund A pool contained a total of $435,000. The review committee recommended awards of $150,000 each to the DeWitt Theatre Company for renovation and expansion to the Operahouse and to the Paul B. Sharar Foundation of Clinton Community College for campus improvements. Zion Child Care Preschool received a grant for $85,000 and the YWCA of Clinton was awarded $50,000 for renovation of the swimming pool.

Fund A grants are awarded with the goal of accomplishing economic, civic or community development within Clinton County. The total project budget must equal $150,000 or more and no grant shall exceed 50 percent of the project budget. All applicants must show proof of matching funds equal to the amount of the grant requested.

The association will begin distributing Fund B grant applications. The application deadline is Aug. 15. The association will announce the recipients of Fund B grants in September.

Grants awarded from Fund B to qualifying organizations are available up to $75,000 and are subject to a matching funds requirement equal to 25 percent of the total project cost.
