CLINTON — Mike Johnson, chairman of the Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce, has announced the promotion of Rachael Soesbe Vopatek to the position of membership director.

In an-noun-cing this decision, Johnson said “we are fortunate to have an able and energetic individual on our current staff who can readily step into the membership director’s position recently vacated by Jennifer Naeve. Having worked with Naeve as the communication and events coordinator, Vopatek has a great familiarity with our existing membership base as well as a keen understanding of the growth potential for our Chamber membership.”

A Clinton native, Vopatek earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Iowa in 1999. During her tenure as communication and events coordinator, she has overseen committees working on event development for the Chamber of Commerce. She also has been responsible for the weekly e-mail and the newsletter that informs Chamber members and the community of the activities sponsored by the Clinton Cha-mber.

She serves on the boards of the Gateway Area Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Miss Clinton County Scholarship Program.

Lori Hill-Susie, 1st Vice Chair of the Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce said, “Rachael has been a strong advocate for the Chamber for the past several years and will be a great fit for this position.

“Her relationship with current Chamber members is strong and will undoubtedly help her grow the program.”

Julie Allesee, Chamber President, said “it is always important to look at current staff members when selecting a candidate for a position. It is the reward for doing a good job and it allows the opportunity to grow and develop within an organization.”
