The cause of a Wednesday afternoon fire is still undetermined.
The Clinton Fire Department responded at 12:10 p.m. to a report of a structure fire at 555 Ninth Avenue South. The fire department responded with 11 firefighters, two engine companies, one quint company and two ambulances. Upon arrival, the fire crew found all occupants out of the residence and smoke was coming out of the basement.
The fire was confined to the utility room in the basement, which contained a boiler and water heater.
A total of 250 gallons of water was used to extinguish the fire and the fire department remained on scene for two hours.
Damage was $15,000 to the basement.
The home was not insured and the occupants are being assisted by the Gateway Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.
