A Clinton man has been sentenced to almost 12 years in prison.

Michael G. Long, 49, of Clinton, was sentenced Thursday to a total prison term of 140 months after pleading guilty June 25 for drug and firearm charges.

On Sept. 29, 2006, a search warrant was executed at 1716 Roosevelt St. in Clinton. During surveillance leading up to the search, Long was seen leaving the residence.

During the search, 14.70 grams of cocaine and 4.18 grams of crack were found. Individuals present at the residence identified these drugs as belonging to Long. Smaller quantities of drugs and drug paraphernalia were found throughout the house. A loaded Mossberg, Model 500, 12 gauge was found in the dining room closet.

Long admitted at his plea that he used this weapon to protect his drug stash and to intimidate his drug customers.
