DES MOINES — Connie R. Perion Short died at the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa following a long battle with cancer on Saturday, August 29, 2009

Connie was born July 6, 1944 in Clinton, Iowa. She was the daughter of Raymond and Winifred (Dot) (Hansen) Perion. Connie graduated from Northeast High School, Goose Lake, Iowa in 1962, where she was active in basketball and softball.

Connie is survived by her son Kelvin (LuAnn) Short of Clinton; one granddaughter, two grandsons and four great grandchildren. A sister, Rita Gordon with whom she shared her home; two brothers, John (Betty) Perion of Clinton, and Larry (Laural) Perion of Dickenson, TX; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Connie was an active volunteer in the Special Olympics of Iowa and participated in many walks for the cure of cancer. She employed by Dee Zee Manufacturing for 20 years.

Graveside services were at the Assumption Cemetery in Charlotte. The family would like to thank the Taylor House for their excellent care and the many friends and relatives who visited. Memorials can be made to Mercy Cancer Center to replenish hats and turbans for cancer patients.
