FULTON, Ill. — A Thomson, Ill., woman is dead after a two-vehicle crash in western Whiteside County.

Whiteside County sheriff’s deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Illinois 136 east of Fulton at 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Through witness accounts and the investigation, deputies determined a four-door 2003 Chevy Cavalier traveling south on Illinois 136 failed to yield at the stop intersection and was struck by an eastbound semi-tractor trailer driven by Wayne A. Meister, 51, of Eldora. The vehicle and the semi went off the roadway on the south side of U.S. 30 into a field.

Meister was not injured.

The driver of the southbound vehicle, Jeanice D. Brown, 72, of rural Thomson, Ill., was pronounced dead at the scene by Whiteside County Coroner Joe McDonald.

The accident is under investigation. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Fulton Ambulance and Fulton Fire Department personnel, Fulton Police, Illinois State Police and the Whiteside County Coroner’s Office.
