CLINTON — A Clinton man has been sent to prison after pleading guilty to domestic abuse-assault, third offense.

Gary Norem, 44, 214 Fourth Ave. South, was sentenced last week to up to five years in prison on the charge. He also was fined $750. An existing no-contact order will be extended, as well.

According to court records, police were dispatched on March 31 to the Pool Hall Apartments after a report of domestic abuse was received. The documents state that Norem’s female victim said he punched her in the stomach, held her mouth closed and shoved her around the apartment.

Norem tried to prevent the victim from leaving the apartment, police said. A neighbor called police and Norem fled the scene with Norem later arrested on a warrant.
