PROPHETSTOWN, Ill. — Doris E. Kromrey, 84, of Prophetstown, died Saturday at C.G.H. Medical Center, Sterling, IL.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home, 320 Lafayette Street, Prophetstown, IL. The Rev. Jim Jensen, pastor of Advent Christian Church, Prophetstown, IL, will be officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the service time Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at the Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home, Prophetstown, IL. Interment of cremains will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL.

Memorials may be made to the Prophetstown Food Pantry.

She was born November 20, 1924, in Portland Township, IL, to Julius R. and Edith E. (Rollo) Mix.

Doris was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and was a 1942 graduate of Erie High School, Erie, IL.

She married William B. Morris on September 21, 1943. She later married Arthur L. “Mick” Kromrey on August 6, 1976, in Watertown, SD; he died June 7, 2001.

She was employed by General Electric, Morrison, IL, for 34 years retiring in 1986.

She was a volunteer for the Prophetstown Elementary School and Prophetstown Food Pantry. She was a member of the GEM Club. She was an avid reader and sports fan. She enjoyed bowling, golfing and watching her grandchildren participate in sports.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon (Bob) Anderson of Prophetstown, IL, and Merri (Dick) Harridge of Erie, IL; two sons, David (Jane) Morris of Prophetstown, IL, and Bill (Marcia) Morris of Moline, IL; ten grandchildren, Susan (Adrian) Delgado; Jackie (Mike) Lauritzen, John Janssen, Justin Janssen; Melissa (Dan) Zanderson, Marti Morris, Matthew Morris, Elyse Morris; Michael Morris, Dawn (Paul) Deschepper; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Jean Seger, Boulder, CO, Mary (Ken) Thompson, Erie, IL; special friends, Harold Erdmann and Corky and Ardie Woolums of Prophetstown, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; two brothers, William and Robert Mix.
