Jackson County sheriff’s deputies as well as Maquoketa police and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are conducting an ongoing investigation into the drowning of a 4-year-old child.

The drowning happened Saturday. According to a press release, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Maquoketa Police Department responded to an emergency call of a drowning near Andrew at 5 p.m.

The 4-year-old child, whose name has not been released, was rushed to the Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa and was pronounced dead at approximately 5:15 p.m.
