DEWITT — Two individuals have been chosen by a subcommittee of the Clinton County Emergency Management Agency as finalists in the search for a new director for the agency.

They are:

• Kent L. Studnicka, of New Castle, Colo. He has a master’s of science in Homeland Security and Emergency Management, master’s of science in public administration, and an associate’s degree in fire protection technology and paramedic certification. He has 12 years experience with EMS, fire and the emergency management field involving the preparation, mitigation, response, recovery and training for public safety officials within the area.

• Chance R. Kness, of Macomb, Ill., originally from the Clinton County area. He has a bachelor’s of art degree with an emphasis in emergency management and minors in fire administration and sociology. He has 11 years of experience in emergency services and he was deployed to Iraq from October 2004 until December 2005 with the Army National Guard, Macomb, Bravo Battery, 2nd Battalion, 123rd Field Artillery, which was responsible for the daily functioning of the technical operations center, tracking troop movement, planning operations, and maintaining communications with all elements.

The subcommittee also has scheduled two opportunities for the public, fire and safety personnel to meet and greet the finalists.

Those events, both on Aug. 6, will be at the Clinton County Courthouse from 2 to 4 p.m. and the DeWitt Community Center from 6 to 8 p.m.
