CLINTON — Erma Mair of Clinton died at Mercy Medical Center on Saturday, March 7, 2009. She had been living at Prairie Hills Assisted Living Community for the past year and a half. Prior she lived in Camanche for about nine years.

She was born in Edgewood, Iowa, to Earl and Bertha Sharp, August 11, 1916. She married Frank G. Mair (now deceased) on February 10, 1940. They had two children, Ronald (also deceased in 1988 at age 51) and Linda residing in Portland, Oregon.

Erma has been Aunt to Dale Sharp, Darrold Sharp, (Duane Sharp, deceased), Douglas Sharp of Camanche; David Sharp of Wisconsin and Janet Peterson of Clinton and (Mary Jo Fahlbeck deceased of Follets). She also had many wonderful great-nieces and nephews, most from Camanche.

She was a member of the First Methodist Church while living in Camanche. In her last years, she enjoyed reading non-fiction books, cryptogram puzzles, playing Bingo and listening to the many different groups or speakers who visited Prairie Hills Assisted Living Community. She was also a pretty good pool player. She had always been an adventurous woman. She had become an aircraft pilot during WWII, (she wasn’t in any branch of service). She also loved playing golf. Erma had many interesting jobs, of which she enjoyed being a bookkeeper the most. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
