CLINTON — Clinton Fire Department Chief Mark Regenwether was involved in a collision while riding a motorcycle Tuesday afternoon.

According to a police report, the accident occurred near Second Avenue South and 11th Street. Regenwether was traveling west on Second Avenue South approaching 11th Street. Meanwhile, Carol E. Van Pelt, 51, of Fulton, Ill., was traveling south on 11th Street. Police say Van Pelt did not stop at the stop sign at the intersection. As Van Pelt’s vehicle pulled out onto Second Avenue South, the motorcycle struck the driver’s side of Van Pelt’s car.

Van Pelt said that she did not see Regenwether’s motorcycle. She was cited with failure to obey a stop sign. Regenwether had minor injuries to his left arm and side after the collision, but refused medical attention.
