CLINTON — Gateway Human Resource Association announced the award of three $500 scholarships to local students. The recipients of the GHRA Scholarship have each achieved a minimum 3.0 GPA, are civic minded and active in their communities, and by all indications, possess strong leadership potential.

Sarah Buikema has just completed her junior year at Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill. She is a psychology major and plans to complete her Bachelors degree in May 2010. She recently received experience in her field by participating in an internship in Australia.

Abigail Goldsmith is a senior at East Central High School. She has been accepted to the nursing program at Clinton Community College. In preparation for entering the nursing program, Abigail successfully completed her CNA certification in February.

Stuart McCulloh will attend Iowa State University, majoring in Agricultural Education, following his graduation from Central DeWitt High School this year. He was selected for his commitment to excellence as indicated by his academic performance and by testimonials from school faculty.

GHRA is the local Clinton area chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

The goal is the same as the national SHRM organization; “Serve the Professional — Advance the Profession.” GHRA was founded more than 40 years ago by a small group of human resource managers from Clinton and surrounding areas to discuss problems and share ideas directly related to the human resources field.
