CLINTON — A fire at a Clinton company, resulting in damage to a fabrication machine, was caused by a leaking fuel line supplying the machine.

Clinton firefighters were called to The Egging Co., 2221 16th Ave. South, at 1:09 a.m. today, receiving a report of a structure fire and a missing employee.

According to fire officials, the fire department’s Company 4 found light smoke coming from the building. The missing employee was located safe in the building during a a primary search of the structure.

The building’s sprinkler system was operating upon arrival and the fire was extinguished by the employee, who used a fire extinguisher prior to the firefighters’ arrival. The smoke was ventilated from the building.

None of the 11 employees working at the time of the fire was injured. Damage was confined to the fabrication machine. No damage estimate was available, according to fire officials.
