CLINTON — Marguerite E. “Cheese” Peters, 68, of Clinton, IA. passed away on May 9th, 2009, at Elmwood Nursing Home, Elmwood Park, IL. Visitation will be held from 11 - 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 16th, 2009, at Bethel AME Church. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. following the visitation at Bethel AME Church, with the Reverend Van Flowers officiating. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Lemke Funeral Homes - South Chapel assisted the family with funeral arrangements.

Marguerite was born October 5, 1940, in Clinton, Iowa, to William and Margaret (Culberson) Jetter. She married Willie Peters, June 14, 1959, in Clinton, Iowa. She graduated from Clinton High School, 1958 and also Clinton Community College. She was an accountant for Jetter Hauling and also worked for Data Dimensions.

She was a member of Bethel AME Church, member of Eastern Star for over 40 years, Leah Chapter #8, Missionary Society at Bethel AME, choir member, and treasurer of the choir and belonged to the American Business Women’s Association.

Survivors include a daughter, Roberta Peters of Davenport; a son, Duane Peters, Clinton; 3 granddaughters, Alexandra, Domonquie and Tori; 2 grandsons, Terrell and Marcus; 3 sisters, Juanita Fayne, Fayne, Tennessee; Charlene Cole, Fayetteville, NC; Dorothy “Dina”White, Clinton; 3 brothers, Roland (Clar) McCorkle, Milan, IL; William Jetter Jr., Moline, IL; John Jetter, Clinton; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Margaret Jetter, Sr., and 2 brothers, Robert and Vinson Jetter. Memorials can be made to Trust Fund for Terrell Peters at Clinton National Bank.
