DAVENPORT — Funeral services for Mary E. Sebring, age 87, of Davenport, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Cunnick- Collins Mortuary Chapel in Davenport.

Interment will be at Clinton Memorial Cemetery in Clinton, IA. The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the Mortuary. Mrs. Sebring died Thursday, May 7, 2009, at Davenport Lutheran Assisted Living

Mary Ethel Sebring was born on May 13, 1921, in McCullum, AL, the daughter of Clifton and Leo (Walker) Franklin. She attended Brilliant High School in Brilliant, AL. In 1949, she married Ecil Thompson in Armory, MS. He passed away in 1962. In 1965, she married Ray Sebring in Camanche, IA. He passed away in 1997.

Mrs. Sebring worked for General Electric for 17 years before retiring in 1983. She was a member of Four Square Church of the Open Door in Clinton, IA, the Samaritan Auxiliary, Rebecca’s in Clinton, IA, and the Moose Club.

She is survived by two daughters, Twana (Louis) Fisher of Blue Grass, IA, Mary (Boyd) Stackhouse of Bettendorf, IA; a son, Kenneth “Wayne” (Lily) Ellis of Mobile, AL; two sisters: Willene Flippo of Brilliant, AL, Fay Baxter of Mobile, AL; a brother, Don Franklin of Winfield, AL; a best friend and neighbor, Delores Chambers of Camanche, IA; 7 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two brothers, two sisters and a grandson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Four Square Church of the Open Door in Clinton, IA.
