CLINTON — A two-vehicle accident on the Mill Creek Parkway on Sunday resulted in injuries to both drivers.

According to an accident report from the Clinton Police Department, Vernon J. Truemper, 84, of Camanche, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado truck south on Mill Creek Parkway and reportedly fell asleep.

The vehicle crossed over the centerline and traveled into the oncoming lane. Three vehicles were northbound and two of the vehicles moved out of the way of the oncoming vehicle. The truck struck a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Kendra L. Jenkins, 18, of Camanche.

Jenkins was extricated from the vehicle by Clinton Fire Department rescue crews using the Jaws of Life and transported by MedForce helicopter to Genesis West in Davenport. Truemper was transported to Mercy Medical Center North by Clinton Ambulance. Jenkins was released from the hospital Tuesday morning. Truemper’s condition is unknown.

Both vehicles suffered an estimated $10,000 damage each. The accident remains under investigation.
