CLINTON — A former Clinton Riverboat Days board member has been selected to be the grand marshal of this year’s Riverboat Days parade.

Skip Miller will be honored during the June 30 parade that will kick off the Riverboat Days celebration.

Miller served on the Riverboat Days Board of Directors for six years, leaving the board about four years ago. While on the board, he assisted on the marketing, parade and main stage committees.

Miller is a 1979 graduate of Northeast High School and has been employed for 26 years at Air Vent, where he is head of the maintenance department.

He is well known for his involvement in Clinton’s baseball programs. He was a Little League coach in the 1980s, was involved with Clinton Junior Baseball and now is the coach of the Comets, a traveling team. He also has been a board member with 1st Gateway Credit Union.

He and his wife, Lori, have a son Jeremy, 14.

Miller said Wednesday he was surprised to have been selected for the honor.

Denny Duerling, executive secretary of the RBD board, said Miller is being honored because of his involvement on the RBD board and his dedication to Clinton’s baseball teams.

“We look for someone who does something for the community,” he said.
