DAVENPORT — One River Mississippi will be performed tonight at 7 p.m. in the Quad-Cities.

The performance can be viewed from the Centennial Bridge, the Sky Bridge or from the bike path near the Old Armory Building.

One River Mississippi is the world’s largest site-specific dance and music performance to create awareness for the Mississippi River as an environmental, economic and historic ecosystem.

The One River Mississippi project brings together art, ecology and community through seven simultaneous dance performances taking place along the river’s length from its source in Itasca, Minn., to Woodland Plantation, Plaquemines Parish, La.

Local musicians and choreographers will team up to create unique, site-based performances presented free to the public.

A radio simulcast in each market will link seven audiences.

Other sites participating in One River Mississippi include Minneapolis; St. Louis and East St. Louis, Ill.; Memphis, Tenn.; and New Orleans.
