Area law enforcement agencies conducted a traffic enforcement project over the weekend in Clinton.

Friday evening, members of the Clinton Police Department, Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Camanche Police Department and Iowa State Patrol concentrated efforts on U.S. 30, U.S. 67 and Mill Creek Parkway in an effort to enforce seatbelt and impaired driver laws.

Clinton Police Capt. Bill Greenwalt said the department tries to periodically coordinate efforts with other local agencies to enforce traffic laws. This traffic project was funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau. Greenwalt said the number of citations issued during the traffic enforcement project is not yet available and will be released at a later date.
