Even fair staff were surprised earlier today, when a special guest made an unannounced visit to the Whiteside County Fair. President Barack Obama, in the area for job-building forums in northeast Iowa, made an impromptu visit to the fair to mingle with area constituents.
The president arrived at approximately 10:30 a.m., with only about a half an hour warning given to fair staff. The entrances and exits were closed during his visit, which lasted a little over 30 minutes. President Obama was given a tour of the grounds, and shook hands with several attendees.
