FULTON, Ill. — A Savanna, Ill., man walking across Illinois 84 just north of Fulton suffered major injuries after he was struck by a semi on Wednesday evening.

According to a Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office news release, Jody D. Webb, 29, was walking north, at times in the middle of the northbound lane of Illinois 84, at approximately 8:18 p.m.

Jason S. Snapp, 32, of Chana, Ill., was driving a semi-tractor/trailer on Illinois 84 and failed to see Webb and struck him, causing major injuries. The accident occurred just north of Penrose Road. Webb was airlifted to the Illini Trauma Center in Silvis, Ill., and later was airlifted to Peoria, Ill.

Whiteside County Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted by Fulton firefighters, Fulton EMS, Fulton police, Clinton EMS, Illinois State Police, MedForce Helicopter and Midwest Collision. The accident remains under investigation.
