SAVANNA, Ill. — Phillip D. Walker, age 68, of Savanna, IL, died Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Morrison, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 20th, at the Pape Funeral Home in Clinton. A funeral service will be conducted by the Fulton Masonic Lodge at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Pape Funeral Home. Cremation rites will be accorded with burial at a later date.

The son of Hilda Walker Hobbs, Phil was born in Peoria, Ill., on January 21, 1941. He graduated from Fulton High School in 1959. Phil married Harriet Diettrick on February 1, 1964, in Clinton. Phil was a bevel gear technician at Caterpillar Tractor Company for 31 years. He traveled extensively overseas with time spent at the East Peoria and Mt. Joy plants. He retired in 1994.

Phil enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed going to auctions, dealing in antiques and gardening. He was a member of the Fulton Masonic Lodge #189 and had been a Boy Scout instructor at Camp Lowden.

Phil is survived by his wife, Harriet; three sons, Mark (Julie) Walker of Fulton, Mike (Xanthe) Walker and their children, Emma and Ethan of Hancock, WI, and Matt Walker and his children, Brianna and Brian of Bettendorf; a nephew, Jonas Hobbs and a niece, Jennifer Hobbs.
