MORRISON, Ill. — Renzie J. Buikema, 95, of Pleasant View Nursing Home in Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Morrison, IL.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL, with the Rev. Jim Stralow, pastor of Forreston Reformed Church, Forreston, IL. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2009, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL. Memorials will be established.

He was born December 15, 1913, in Morrison, IL, to Rank and Minnie (Fossen) Buikema.

He was educated in the rural Whiteside County schools.

He married Iva Tichler on December 3, 1935, in Morrison, IL; she died December 28, 1977. He then married Anna H. Venema on June 1, 1979, in Fulton, IL; she died July 21, 1999.

He was engaged in farming in the rural Morrison area his entire life.

He was a member of Ebenezer Reformed Church, Morrison, IL, and the church’s Men’s Brotherhood. He was a member of the Whiteside County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening.

Survivors include four daughters, Esther (Gerald) Hamstra, Morrison, IL, Janice (Tommy) Patten, Morrison, IL, Shirley (Doug) Borop, Machesney Park, IL, and Beth (Steve) Wroble, Morrison, IL; one son, Allen (Hope) Buikema, Morrison, IL; nineteen grandchildren; thirty six great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Janet Tichler, Morrison, IL, Mrs. Ella Mae Pruis, Morrison, IL; two stepdaughters, Mary Jean (LeRoy) Wiersema, Morrison, IL, Mildred “Pinky” (Vernon) Van Dyke, Rock Falls, IL; two stepsons, Donald (Corliss) Venema, Morrison, IL, Calvin (Paula) Venema, Geneseo, IL; nineteen stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his two wives; one granddaughter in infancy; one stepson, Robert Venema; three sisters, Betty Hey, Stella Buikema, Dorothy June Richmond; one brother, John Buikema.
