CLINTON — As the temperature pushed toward the low 90s, many spectators enjoyed the scene on the Clinton riverfront as Riverboat Days began Friday.

Smoke slowly churned out of the Ponderosa barbecue trailer as owner Moe Kesan began to prepare his best barbecue to be judged today.

“We came for the concerts,” stated Cheryl McRoberts while she looked for seating for Friday night’s performers, Creedence Clearwater Revisited.

“Every year the whole family comes,” McRoberts said, as the practice jam echoed from the Riverview Park Bandshell.

This year’s Riverboat Days features new attractions that seem to be going over well with attendees. The barbecue contest on Friday and Saturday, the Mini-Rod Tractor Pulls on Sunday, and the “Race the Riverfront” kart races Monday and Tuesday are all new additions to Riverboat Days this year.

While the weekend continues to heat up, Riverboat Days will most likely follow suit, and should you need something to cool off there are plenty of vendors with refreshments to cool you down.
