CLINTON — Auditions for RiverChor, Clinton’s community choir, will be held Sunday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the choir room at Zion Lutheran Church, 439 Third Ave. South, in Clinton. Rehearsals will begin Sept. 7 in the choir room of Lyons Middle School, Clinton.

RiverChor is beginning its sixth year of operation since its organization in February 2004. It has performed a variety of music for audiences since then, including large works such as the Requiems of Mozart and Faure, Franz Schubert’s Mass in G and Johannes Brahms’ Nanie and Schicksalslied with the Clinton Symphony Orchestra, and Norman Dello Joio’s To St. Cecilia.

“We’re always looking for good singers who can read music and enjoy making music,” Rob Engelson, RiverChor conductor, said. “RiverChor has established itself as one of the premier choirs in this area, and this season will include some new works that haven’t been heard here before, including the Little Organ Mass of Franz Joseph Haydn, and Benjamin Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb.”

Auditions will take only about 10 minutes, and auditionees do not need to prepare any music in advance. Anyone having questions about the audition, or who would need to arrange an alternate time to audition, contact Rob Engelson at 243-6042.
