GOSHEN, Ind. — Robert J. Groh, 85, of Goshen and formerly of Clinton, died Saturday at Greencroft Nursing Home, Goshen.

Interment will be in Lusk Memorial Cemetery, Albany, Ill.

Pallbearers will be Norm Jaeger, Jason Jaeger, Garry Schaver, Gordon Schaver, Derek Schaver and Dick James; and Joshua Rettig.

He was born Sept. 18, 1921, in Clinton to Fred and Pearl Jordan Groh. He married Marian E. Rummel on April 24, 1942, in Garden Plain, Ill.

He was educated in rural Whiteside County (Ill.) schools.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He worked with Case Co., Bettendorf. He also farmed in the Morrison, Ill., area for 12 years. He then owned and operated Bob’s Conoco Service Station in Clinton for 20 years before retiring in 1983.

He moved to Goshen in 2003.

He was a charter member of Albany American Legion Hanson-Kennedy Post 1079. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 9664 in Camanche.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Marla (Curt) Bender of Elkhart, Ind., and Mary (Mark) Rettig of Eden Prairie, Minn.; one son, Mark (Priscilla) Groh of Westminster, Calif.; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother, Harold Groh of Fulton, Ill.; one stepsister, June Enwright of Erie, Ill.

Memorials may be made to the Albany American Legion Hanson-Kennedy Post 1079 Scholarship Fund.
