Police are searching for a man allegedly involved in an accident that resulted in the death of a Savanna, Ill., man Wednesday.
Montero Badera-Aguilar, 27, is wanted by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department on information regarding the two-car accident Wednesday that led to the death of Earl (Junior) Lashelle, 80, of Savanna.
According to the sheriff’s department, Badera-Aguilar fled the scene of the accident at approximately 2 p.m. Wednesday on Illinois 84, north of Three Mile Road. He was last seen entering a cornfield near the area known as Krazy Acres.
The investigation indicates that Lashelle’s vehicle crossed the centerline and struck Badera-Aguilar’s vehicle, the sheriff’s department stated.
Police searched for Badera-Aguilar until approximately 10 p.m. Wednesday and went door-to-door throughout the area to advise residents to be cautious and to report any information.

Assisting in the search and the investigation were the Thomson, Ill., Fire and Ambulance departments, Milledgeville, Lanark, Thomson and Savanna police departments, the Illinois State Police, the Illinois Conservation Police, and the Jo Daviess and Whiteside and Clinton County sheriff’s offices.
Four K-9 unites were deployed at the scene. The Illinois State Police supplied two airplanes, including one with thermal imaging capability.
