CLINTON — The Clinton Area Showboat Theatre will be hosting a benefit concert titled “The Fritzi Frary Follies” to celebrate the life of a very special lady.

The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. June 1.

Last November, a most beloved patron of the Clinton Area Showboat Theatre passed away. Fritzi Frary was born July 25, 1917, in Clinton. During her life she was the top model in Chicago, she married the love of her life and she raised a family. Fritzi not only attended many productions at the Showboat, but she celebrated with cast and crew by her kind words and gifts of fudge, knitted items and especially her friendship. Over the years many actors came to love Fritzi and looked forward to seeing her in the audience.

The June Follies will bring to the Showboat stage many faces from past seasons, performing some of Fritzi’s favorites as well as previews of the 2009 Summer Season. Scheduled to return to Clinton for the concert are Megan Kramer-Curran, Sarah Hayes, Craig Merriman, Heather Currie, Nicole Horton, Julia Mitchell and Patrick Stinson.

Local favorites Jalayne Riewerts and Rob Engelson will appear, as well as Tom McEleney, Ellen Miller, Karen Stephan, Emily Eisenman and Marissa Decker. Newcomers Joshua Sohn and Katie Hennies also will perform.

The evening promises to provide amazing live entertainment (and possibly even a surprise) to honor an amazing woman.

Tickets for the concert can be purchased at the Showboat box office, located at 303 Riverview Drive in Clinton, by phone at 242-6760, at the Wild Rose Casino, or online at
