CLINTON — The Clinton City Council tonight will begin its regular session with a public hearing about the plans, specifications. form of contract and estimate of cost for water pollution control plant upgrades.

The items to be addressed are the primary digester control room, the motor control center and ventilation equipment replacement.

The council also will consider a resolution accepting a $227,350 bid and awarding a contract for those items. The bid was submitted by Clinton Engineering Co.

Later, the council will consider the second and third readings of an ordinance amending the city code in regard to the 2006 International Fire Code and the 2006 National Fire Protection Association 101: Life Safety Code.

The first reading of an ordinance that changes the way in which applications for liquor license renewal are handled by the city is scheduled.

Six resolutions also will be considered. They include:

• Directing the city engineer’s office to prepare preliminary plans and assessments for the Prospect Avenue Street Improvement Project;

• Approving certain budget appropriations;

• Authorizing compensation for the acting city administrator;

• Creating a temporary eighth sergeant position in the Clinton Police Department;

• Authorizing payment for Eagle Point Park equipment and waiving the purchasing policy; and

• Endorsing the Heritage Byway Designation of the Lincoln Highway.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m.
