PONTIAC, Ill. — Wayne Luett, 63, of Pontiac, died on Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at 4:49 p.m. at his residence.

A visitation will be held at Martin-Burke Funeral Home in Pontiac, IL, on Friday, March 20, 2009, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Cremation rites will be accorded after the visitation. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at the Grace Episcopal Church in Pontiac with Pastor Carolyn Bavaro officiating. Military rites will be accorded after the services at the church. Memorials in Wayne’s name may be left to his family.

Wayne was born on January 11, 1946, in Clinton, IA, a son of Elmer L. and Jane (Baumhardt) Luett. He is survived by one son, Matthew Luett of Graymont, IL, and one daughter, Anne Douglas of Delphi, IN; his grandchildren, David, Tricia, Stephanie, Emma and Jacob; his mother, Jane (Russ) Doonan of Pueblo, CO; three brothers, Bruce of Seattle, WA, Michael of Stillwater, MN, Lee of Clinton, IA; and his special friend, Deb Skrtich of Morris, IL. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father and one sister, Sharon.

Wayne graduated from Clinton High School in 1964. He attended college at Mount Saint Clare College in Clinton, IA. He served our country in the United States Army from 1966–1969, and was stationed in West Germany from 1966-1968 working in nuclear weapons. After he was discharged from the military he worked at Hawkeye Chemical Company in Iowa and then worked at the LaSalle Nuclear Power Plant in the chemistry department in radiation protection and as a training instructor. He retired in 2001 after 28 years of service.

He was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Pontiac and the Pontiac Lions Club where he had served as president. He was an avid fisherman, enjoying yearly trips to Canada for walleye. He was a Chicago Bears and White Sox Fan. Wayne loved his family very much and enjoyed being with his grandchildren.
