CLINTON — The Clinton Family YMCA Board of Directors has announced the hiring of Mike Corriveau as the YMCA’s new executive director.

He will assume his duties July 3.

The YMCA’s Executive Search Committee consisted of Lisa Howes, John Frey, Amy Cavanaugh, Dan Jefferies, Len Lewis, Eric Johnson and Shirley Kelly. A representative from the YMCA’s national organization also was present to assist with the hiring process.

According to a release from the YMCA, there were many qualified candidates who applied for the position. The field was narrowed down to two women and two men, any of which would have done an outstanding job, the board members said.

Corriveau and his family will be returning to the Midwest after his stint as a YMCA executive director in Pikeville, Ky. He previously had an executive position with the Racine, Wis., YMCA.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from DePauw University and a Master of Sports Management from Western Illinois University. He brings experience in sales and marketing.

He once served as the general manager for the Kenosha Wisconsin Baseball Club.

He has extensive knowledge in special event management and promotion, in addition to facility and membership development.

Interim executive Directors Larry Howe and Paul Delzell both have been working in the past several months since previous YMCA Director Terry Mull left Clinton for a YMCA position in Hillsboro, Ohio.

In the press release announcing Corriveau’s hiring, the Board of Directors thanked Howe and Delzell for all their efforts in managing the YMCA during this interim period.
