KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Ashford University soccer teams climbed from their preseason perches as the first NAIA regular season soccer polls were announced Tuesday afternoon.
On the men’s side, the Saints cracked the top 10 and stand as the No. 7 ranked program in the NAIA Men’s Soccer Coaches’ Top-25 Poll. Ashford is 5-1 overall this season and holds victories over No. 10 Belhaven (Miss.) and No. 16 Auburn Montgomery (Ala.). Both teams were rated in the top five starting the season.
Mobile (Ala.) became the new No. 1 men’s team in the nation.
The Ashford women’s squad moved up from a preseason No. 20 ranking to the 18th spot in the NAIA Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Top-25 Poll. Ashford is 4-1 overall this season and boasts victories over ranked opponents Robert Morris and Baker (Kan.).
For the third consecutive poll, Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) claimed the No. 1 spot.
Both Ashford teams return home this week for contests at South Campus. The men welcome No. 4 ranked Hastings to Clinton on Sunday. The AU women host Judson on Saturday at 1 p.m.
