---- — KANSAS CITY, Mo. – With postseason play just three days away, the Ashford women moved up one spot to No. 15 and the men’s team remained No. 3 when the 10th NAIA soccer top 25 polls were announced Tuesday afternoon.
Both teams were idle last week, closing out the regular season Oct. 29.
The Ashford men earned a season-high 520 points and one first-place vote to remain in the three-spot for the second consecutive week, owning a 12-3-1 record. Grand View maintained its spot at the top of the rankings, earning 557 points and 17 first-place votes. Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), Oklahoma Wesleyan and Hastings (Neb.) rounded out the top five.
Coach Mick Regan and the AU women closed the regular season with a 12-3 record and earned 293 points in this week’s poll.
Concordia (Ore.) sat at the top of the standings with 560 points, earning 19 first-place votes in the process. Northwood (Fla.), Westmont (Calif.), Lindsey Wilson and Embry Riddle (Fla.) completed the top five.
Both Ashford teams open play at the 2013 Association of Independent Institutions Tournament on Friday in Lawrenceville, Ga., against Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.). The top-seeded men open at 9 a.m., while the No. 1-seeded AU women will kick off at 3 p.m.
