THOMSON, Ill. — An area lumber business will celebrate its 50th year with its current owners.The McKee and Son Lumber Company in Thomson will host a lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at its facility to commemorate the occasion. During this week, the business will offer sale items and door prizes.
The business was established as a lumber yard in 1865, and the family-run business still operates in the same buildings. Former owners, Tom and Marian McKee, purchased the business in 1963.
Their son Jim, and his wife, Robin, continue to operate the business.
