---- — CLINTON -- Clysar LLC celebrated its 50th anniversary Saturday, with its top leadership in attendance.

Owner William C. Morris exclaimed he is very happy and excited for the future.

“There is a lot of work to do but changing the sign is the first positive step,” Morris said.

Morris’ company, Cove Point Holdings, bought Clysar last month and since has had a lot of activity at the Clinton plant. Executive Vice President and General Manager Bill Hare said beginning stages of plant renovations have already begun.

“We want it to look more like a headquarters instead of just a plant,” said Hare, adding that he hoped for a completed project within nine months.

In addition to plant renovations the company expects to add 15 new jobs to the administration department.

With the addition of jobs, Morris will be more involved with the company in the next few months.

“I’m sure I will be here every month. It’s not just the company coming home to Iowa; we are all coming home to Iowa,” Morris said.

The first step for the company is transitioning to a new administration department.

Clysar President Gene Lee said the company needs to move people from Oshkosh, Wis., to the Clinton area before the new department can take hold.

“We have to set up an entirely new financial department before we do anything else,” Lee said.

As the company transitions, Morris and Lee expect to be important factors to the future of the company.

“I’m the new boy on the block so I’m learning a lot,” Morris said. “I have a group of very competent and diligent people working with me so I expect to be very pleased with the future.”
