---- — CLINTON — A car dealership owner recently earned a spot on a national insurance board.
John McEleney, of Clinton and owner of McEleney Motors, was elected to the Board of Directors of the Federated Insurance Companies. The election took place this week at the annual meeting of policyholders in Owatonna, Minn.
McEleney has served as chairman of the National Automobile Dealers Association and chairman of the Pontiac National Dealer Council. He has participated in the GM Policy Board, the Chrysler National Dealer Council and the Buick National Dealer Council.
He has served as a director for the Paul B. Sharar Foundation and Mount St. Clare College. He also has been a member of Federated Insurance’s Advisory Council. In 2012, McEleney was nominated for the Time Magazine Dealer of the Year and McEleney Motors received the Toyota President’s Award.
“John brings nearly forty years of experience and industry leadership to our organization,” Federated Insurance Chairman, President and CEO Jeff Fetters said. “We look forward to gaining his insight into the auto dealer segment of our business. As a respected authority in his profession, John will be a tremendous asset to the Federated Insurance Companies.”
