Youth baseball event records dollars for city

CLINTON — This past May, the Clinton Comet baseball team hosted the Global World Series Qualifier, a sanctioned little league tournament. This tournament featured age groups of 9 to 14 year olds.
During this period, 46 teams, including on average 12 players and their coaches stayed in the hotels in the Clinton area. As a result of this tournament, $86,711 was spent on direct services in the area to include overnight accommodations in hotels, food and beverage service in restaurants, purchase of gasoline and shopping in retail stores. This event created a rollover in expenditure dollars of more than $523,209.
