Guzzardo’s honored as part of improvement program

CLINTON — The Clinton Downtown Partnership kicked off a series of before and after photos Wednesday that will be displayed at downtown businesses that participated in a grant program for exterior improvements to buildings.

Guzzardo’s Hallmark was the first business to receive the before and after photos. The store is one of many participants in the downtown beautification program that allows downtown businesses to recoup around one third of their expenses for improvements to the exterior of their buildings.

The store received a $4,928 check from the Downtown Partnership and the city for repairs to the front windows and front of the building.

“When you walk into a building and look at how ugly it used to be you're going to say, 'wow this looks great,'” said Jennifer Lee, Events and Communications Organizer for the Downtown Partnership. “It reiterates the connection you did a good job reinvesting.”

Lee said there will be more than 30 photos handed out to businesses who participated in the program.

She said she would like to have them all handed out by the middle of January.

Overall, the facade grant program has given about $65,000 for exterior downtown building improvements, Lee said.
