Indians sweep Northeast

CLINTON — Camanche’s boys and girls golf teams beat Northeast in a pair of dual meets Monday at Canyon Creek Golf Course.

Northeast’s Levi Banowetz won medalist honors among the boys with a 10-over-par 44, but Camanche had four of the next five lowest scores to earn a 195-207 win. Alison Seibel of Camanche was the girls medalist with a 52, and teammate Allison Donahue was next with a 58 against Northeast, which fielded an incomplete team.

Despite pleasant temperatures in the 60s, winds that gusted to 21-26 mph inflated scores.

There were no birdies, but Banowetz parred Nos. 4, 5, 7 and 8, all par-4 holes. Collin Short, who finished with a 48 for Camanche, had consecutive birdies on Nos. 4, 5 and 6, the latter a par-3. Mitch McElroy led the Indians with a 47.
