---- — TIPTON -- Derek Harksen picked up two more victories in the sprints to lead Camanche on Thursday at the Tipton Invitational.

Harksen won the 200 meters in 22.65 seconds and the 400 in 50.37. The latter had a margin of victory of 2.73 seconds over Nick Thibault of Center Point-Urbana, with Camanche’s Will Seeser taking third in 53.64.

Camanche finished with 46 points. Center Point-Urbana won the team title with 107 points, edging Monticello by two points. Mount Vernon scored 66, while West Liberty and Lisbon tied for fourth with 56. Calamus-Wheatland was 12th in the 14-team meet, getting all four of its points from Cole Moeller, who placed fourth in the high jump (5-8).

Harksen also anchored Camanche’s second-place entry in the 400-meter relay. Thomas Brantley, Quan Matthew, Brady Beal and Harksen turned in a time of 46.08. The Indians also were second in the 440 shuttle hurdle relay, with the foursome of Zach Feller, Beal, Blake Bialas and Brantley finishing in 1:03.05.

Brantley, Matthew, Beal and Tre Austin took fifth in the 800 relay (1:38.77), and Seeser was fifth in the long jump (18-7.75). Logan Peterson barely missed scoring a point for Camanche in the 3,200, when he was edged out by four-tenths of a second in the battle for sixth.
