---- — CAMANCHE — Monticello came in and did whatever it wanted on the diamond to Camanche on Monday night.

Monticello won both games of a doubleheader 9-0, then 15-3 in a five-inning second game.

In Game 1, Seth Boysen had two of Camanche’s four hits, while Mason Newhard, Tanner Gelton and Spencer Williams each had two hits for the Panthers.

In Game 2, Monticello opened the game with seven runs in the first inning, then followed with six runs in the fourth. Three different Panthers each had a pair of RBIs.

Camanche scored its runs in the second and fourth. Tanner Atkinson had three doubles.

“We just need a few more guys to take advantage with guys on base,” Camanche coach Darryl Cochran said. “Tanner had a great night for us.”

Northeast swept

CASCADE — Northeast had chances to score in its doubleheader against Cascade on Monday, especially in Game 1. However, the Rebels couldn’t muster up a big rally in a 4-1 loss. Northeast also lost Game 2, 4-3.

In the opener, Northeast put three batters on base in the first inning but came up empty. The Rebels sent up two the next inning, but the top of the lineup went cold.

Northeast got its lone run in the sixth inning when Charlie Marcucci had an RBI single that scored Matt Haferbier.

Tevin Stoecker pitched all seven innings for Northeast and threw 103 pitches. He faced 33 and did not walk a batter. Stoecker allowed nine hits and was charged with two earned runs.

In Game 2, Northeast struck first with two runs in the opening frame and mustered one more run in the seventh. In between those rallies, Cascade scored its four runs, with two in the second, one in the fourth and one in the fifth inning.

Ketzalli Dondiego took the loss for Northeast by allowing those four runs in a four-inning outing, but he did hit a two-run home run.
