TIPTON — Camanche picked up its second baseball victory in as many days Tuesday, defeating Tipton 7-2 in a makeup River Valley Conference game.
“Very good win tonight,” Camanche coach Darryl Cochran said. “Good pitching, defense and hitting.”
The Indians scored three runs in the top of the first inning, and that was all the support Seth Boysen needed on the mound. Boysen threw a complete-game five-hitter.
“He was spotting his fastball and getting his off-speed stuff over for strikes,” Cochran said. “He had four strikeouts.”
Kyler Campie and Blake Bialas were the hitting stars for Camanche. Campie drove in three runs, while Bialas had two RBIs.
“Kyler Campie drove in the first two runs with a double,” Cochran said. “He later drove in his third run of the night with a sac fly to left. He was on base two other times with a walk and a hit by pitch.
“Blake Bialas again had a nice night, driving in two runs in the fourth.”
CEDAR RAPIDS — Cedar Rapids Xavier edged Clinton 4-3 on Tuesday in non-conference baseball.
No game details were reported.
