Canticle preps for Lenten retreat

---- — CLINTON — A Lenten retreat will be held at the Canticle in March.

The retreat, which is open to the public, begins with check-in at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, March 22, and continues until 4 p.m. Overnight accommodations are available.

The title of the retreat is “Moving Into Compassion — Embracing Our Lepers.” Encounters with lepers in Scripture and in Franciscan writings will be the focus of this day of reflection. This day retreat will explore Franciscan spirituality using Francis’ Testament, as it applies to people and to the world today.

Sister Nancy Miller, a Dubuque Franciscan, will facilitate this retreat. She is co-coordinator of the Center for Active Nonviolence, Director of Franciscan Spirituality in Clinton.

She heads the newly-formed Martha’s committee. Together, she and the committee explore avenues to convey Franciscan spirituality.
