CLINTON — Lester Shields of Clinton has filed nomination papers as a candidate for the Clinton County Board of Supervisors on the Republican ballot.
He was born and raised in Clinton and Clinton County, and except for a 10-month residency in Waterloo in the early 1970s, has spent the rest of his adult life as a resident of Clinton County.
He is a graduate of Northeast High School and attended Clinton Community College. He joined the Clinton Police Department in 1973 and remained there working the uniform patrol shifts for over 32 years, eventually attaining the rank of Captain, before retiring in March 2006.
Throughout the years he has been involved with many elected, appointed and volunteer organizations including the Riverboat Days Board of Directors, Gateway After Prom, YWCA/Women’s Resource Center, Advisory Board, 1st Gateway Credit Union Board of Directors, Clinton School District Board of Directors, Clinton Municipal Airport Commission, Clinton Zoning Board of Adjustment and the First Baptist Church (Clinton) Deaconate Board.
